Nature Trails & Country Walks

Wander through beautiful woodlands, rolling hills, and open fields on the many walking trails nearby. A short walk from the village leads to Askham Fell, where you might spot roaming fell ponies and hike up Heughscar Hill, a gentle incline for an iconic view of Lake Ullswater. From the top of Askham fell you can extend your hike for more spectacular views and tackle varied terrain, suitable for all levels of hikers.

Lake Adventures

Spend a relaxing day at Ullswater Lake, often called the most beautiful in the Lake District. Enjoy free trout fishing (March 15th – September 30th), with perch, pike, and the rare schelly also found in its waters. Alternatively, explore sailing, boating, canoeing, or a cruise on an Ullswater steamer in this stunning setting.
